Fallacious Memory (https://www.fringeartsbath.co.uk/memory)
My memories of volcanic terrains and earthquake experiences relate to my homeland Taiwan into my ceramic practice. Particularly those related to Taiwanese geological history. I used a volcanic glaze on the surface of the piece to mirror the geological instability in Taiwan, with its nine volcanoes and regular earthquakes. (As a little girl I often had to practice earthquake evacuations). During firing at different temperatures, the layers also began to rect to create lava-like bubbles in the glaze. For me, the volcanic glaze is the skin of the ceramics. I used the volcanic glaze to explore the elements of resilience, destruction, and regeneration. My childhood memories impact my living in a seismic region.
